Looks like everything is simple, excepting the following:

1) Revert - Revert to the first state. It's useful if you have already saved the file, but want to cancel the changes.
2) Extend Roads - Makes vision that roads go from outside the map. Use it if you don't want roads to stop before the map edge. It will extend roads that go through the left and the right sides of map. Roads that go to the top can't be extended and roads that go down are always extended.
3) "Choose picture filter" dialog - Map Editor usually falls if you combine one-pixel tiles of many different grounds. So there are 3 types of filtering:
       None - No filtering.
Pixelize - It combines nearby pixels, making 2x2 blocks.
Scale x2 - It simply scales the picture per two.
4) Convert Enters - If you want to place one object on anoher, make its enter green in H3ObjEd and place it where you want. Than open the map with H3MapTool and press this button.

After aditinag pictures of a map, open it with Map Editor and place any ground somewhere.

Note:
1) There is a h3maps.pal file in the program dirrectory. It's the pallette of heroes' maps pictures.
