PAUL ANTHONY ROMERO CONCERT
(2011.10.31. 13:00-16:00, Budapest, Csili Cultural Center Protocol Room)

When I (Master Vologya) started to organise a Hungarian Heroes Competition back in the 3rd of September 2011, my friend Andrews emailed me, saying he marked Paul Anthony Romero (music composer of the Heroes games) on Facebook, and He confirmed it, adding him to his friendlist. We were happy, but at that point we couldn't possibly imagine what will come next. After a few day he sent another email, reporting that Master Romero is about to visit Hungary between 30th of October and 5th of December - along with Brock Summers - and he gladly meet us Heroes fans, and maybe we could talk and have some drink together somewhere... Of course we were very happy. This was an exceptional chance to meet such a famous and talented composer. More day passed, and an opportunity popped up about a private concert, where Mr. Romero is willing to play some familiar Heroes melody for us, if we could find a place with a piano or pianino. Well, I've never organized a concert, but nothing is impossible, since I've organized many Heroes-related contest and summer-camp before, meaning I have some experience. I've searched the internet for possible places, but most of them has been already taken. Then the big Csili Cultural Center's name came up, and I checked it out: it doesn't have many suitable room, and they only have 1 piano and 2 pianino. I've checked 2 smaller and a bigger room, but finally I've chosen the Protocol room because of its acoustics and it had room for 60. We transferred/tuned the pianino, and everything was ready to go.

We tried to publish the mini-concert widely, resulting that within 3 week all the 60 available spot were taken. A few developer from Black Hole Entertainment honoured us with their presence as well. We thank everyone who participated in the event.

Finally the big day has came. At exactly 13:00 we (me and Andrews) waited for Master Romero and Mr. Summers near the entrance. They arrived by taxi, and welcomed us as good old friends. In the protocol room Romero inspected the pianino and started to practice playing different montages. Meanwhile I left the room to welcome the rest of our guests and audience. In the beginning I talked about the Heroes games, the 25 year anniversary, and then I called upon Paul Anthony Romero. He talked about himself, about how he got involved with the Heroes games and Rob King (who with he composed all 6 episode's music). Then the concert started. He shared some info before each medley (we heard 6), there were themes from I-V and also from the VI. Heroes + 2 extra. At the end of the concert Mr. Romero invited everyone to tomorrow's classical piano concert held at the French Institute, where he will play Liszt, Rachmaninov, Gershwin and some Heroes theme. He also shared us that next year he wants to make a CD-single with the musics of the Heroes games (and later he plans to create a version accompanied by a concert orchestra). Dear Paul, we wish you the best of luck, hopefully you can fulfill it, I think lots hungarian fan willing to purchase something like that CD.

After this fantastic experience the audience were allowed to take photos and to ask for autographs and talk a little with Mr. Romero and Mr. Summers (and with the Black Hole Entertainment guys and the "famous" Master Vologya of course). They were very friendly and helpful (you can check the photos link on top of this page). There were some cookies and refreshment for those waiting.

3 hour slipped away, and we had to say goodbye. Hereby I want to thank to everyone for their participation, especially Master Romero and Mr. Summers for their concert and the gifts they brought (we treating them like relics). And we hope they liked our presents as well (unfortunately Rob King was unable to come to Hungary, maybe next time...)

The next day we of course went to the French Institute, where the Romero+Summers concert started at 18:30. About 150 people listened to the 50 minute long concert and it was great.

We hope both Paul and Brock enjoyed their one week in Hungary. See you soon, and we wish lot more Heroes game (expansion) theme from the Paul Anthony Romero and Rob King duo.

Paul Anthony Romero with Master Vologya's gift... I'm glad you like it Paul!

Yours sincerely:
